More than one million civilians have fled Ukraine because of the Russian invasion, according to the United Nations. Many of the refugees fleeing the violence in Ukraine have headed to neighbouring Poland. Jules Jones, an American who lives in Warsaw, explained that she opened up her family's home to give people a place to rest and feel safe, while they make plans on what to do next, and that she has been inundated with donations from neighbours of furniture and money for food and supplies. She offers refugees temporary accommodation while more permanent residences are found. "As soon as I knew there was a way to connect with people fleeing Ukraine, we agreed to take people in." "It's a comfortable place for people to rest and figure out what to do next." "Everyone wants to do what they can to contribute."
