Appeasing Vladimir Putin will not bring lasting peace

Former U.S. secretary of state Henry A. Kissinger said Monday that Ukraine should cede territory to Russia to help end the invasion, suggesting a position that a vast majority of Ukrainians are against as the war enters its fourth month.

that - so far - has seen it successfully fend off a larger and (theoretically, at least) more powerful invader.

In reality, neither bleeding heart liberals nor diehard realists truly understand Vladimir Putin. They fail to recognize that he is an authoritarian kleptocrat who does not care about Russia’s national interest and is focused instead on his power and wealth. He hides this self-interest behind a façade of revisionist Russian nationalism that helps secure popular support for his criminal rule.

Keep the alliance together, keep hammering away on this false narrative from the Kremlin that somehow it is our fault that they are threatened, and instead focus on reaching Russian citizens. Giving them the truth is just as important as giving Ukrainians weapons.

Two particular features of the Russian army:
1. It is a land-based army with *lots* of artillery & air defence (=consumes a lot)
2. Its supply lines are fragile, overwhelmingly relying on the railway network
